Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Spiritus Florum.
The Fragrances
Yes. My perfumes don't contain parabens or sulfates—because fine fragrance formulas don't use them in the first place.
Sulfates (like SLS/SLES) are foaming agents used in shampoos and body washes. They aren't used in alcohol-based perfumes.
Parabens are preservatives for products that contain water. Classic eau de parfum is mostly alcohol and fragrance oils and is naturally self-preserving, so parabens aren't needed.
So when you see "paraben-free" or "sulfate-free" on perfume, it's largely marketing language for ingredients that modern perfumes don't use anyway.
What's actually in my perfumes: alcohol (to carry and diffuse the scent) + a blend of aroma materials (the perfume concentrate). In line with UK/EU rules, I list any trace allergens (e.g., linalool, limonene) when present above the legal thresholds.
My perfumes are also free of phthalates.
